Murine Mast Cells

Mast cells are immune cells derived from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. They play a crucial role in allergic reactions and inflammatory responses and are primarily located in connective tissues, such as the skin, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract. When an individual is exposed to an allergen e.g. pollen grains, they become activated and release a variety of chemical mediators, namely histamine, leukotrienes, and cytokines that then cause the characteristic symptoms of allergies, such as itching, sneezing, and inflammation. They are also involved in wound healing and defense against pathogens.

We provide high quality mouse mast cells. Mice mast cells share many similarities with human mast cells in terms of morphology, function, and response to various stimuli. They can be studied in-vitro using cultured cell lines derived from mouse mast cells.

There applications include model system to study mast cell biology and the mechanisms underlying allergic diseases. By manipulating mast cell function in these models, researcher can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets e.g. for asthma and other allergic diseases.
