Our Business

PROVISION OF LABORATORY ANIMAL TESTING SERVICES

We provide high-quality outbred, inbred, disease, germ-free, knockout, and immunodeficient rats, mice, Syrian hamsters, guinea pigs and zebra fish for biomedical research. We also provide animal testing services for screening novel drug candidates, checking the safety and effectiveness of drugs and vaccines, immunological, pharmacological, reproduction, cytogenesis, and nutritional studies, among others.

FASTER, MORE ACCURATE IDENTIFICATION OF MICROBIAL INFECTIONS

Culture and sensitivity tests are one of those “sillier” lab tests. You take a patient’s urine or stool or pus or blood or any other specimen and grow it on a Petri dish. Then you take whatever “grows” on the plate and identify what it is and which drug can kill it. It takes you more than 48 hours to find this out. Blood culture can take 5 days even 10 days or 30 days if it’s a fungal culture. And patient management is based on the findings. 2 days or 5 days or 1 month after the patient came for treatment, you tell the doctor that “I have grown streptococcus and it can be treated using cephalexin”. It’s a bit like having several seeds in a bag and you can’t tell pawpaw seeds apart from avocado seeds or beans apart from maize. So you grow all the seeds and wait for them to germinate so that you can tell them apart based on leaf morphology, fruit, roots, flower color, and such. Worse even, 99% of all bacteria can’t be grown on petri dishes.

We are doing better, disrupting the traditional microbiology culture & sensitivity tests using. Identification of bacteria using 16s/18s rRNA sequencing, strain typing, detection of resistance genes, and metagenomic profiling reduces the diagosis time by 400%, identifies ALL bacteria, types all strains, and provides higher quality data for more effective clinical decisioning.

DRIVING AFRICA’S GENOMIC REVOLUTION

Even though Africa boasts of the most diverse genome worldwide, less than 1% of African genomic data is presently available for use in disease management and prevention. We want to change this. Our passion is to generate and provide access to actionable genetic data that can be used to guide disease prevention as well as inform clinical decisions. Our DNA sequencing services are useful for researchers, academia, students, doctors, and professionals in the agricultural, biomedical, and biological fields.

CREATING CRISPR TRANSGENIC SYSTEMS AND DIAGNOSTICS

We design and produce custom CRISPR/Cas knockout and knock-in systems. From simple guide RNAs (gRNA) to gene knockout /knock-in cells and products to complete CRISPR diagnostics.

SUPPORTING HOSPITALS WITH DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

We provide laboratory testing services to hospitals and clinics. Tests provided include the non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) for the diagnosis of genetic conditions in unborn children, clincal gentics tests, cancer genomics, and microbial identification and strain typing using DNA sequencing methods.

PRESERVATION OF BACTERIAL RESOURCES AND EASING ACCESS TO BACTERIAL CULTURE COLLECTION

We maintain a large collection of authentic living bacteria for medical, industrial, research, and agriculturl use. We deposit, document, maintain, preserve, and distribute useful, representative and type strains.

PROVISION OF HIGH QUALITY ANIMAL PRODUCTS FOR RESEARCH

We produce animal products for use in research such as defibirnated sheep blood, murine mast, bone marrow, macrophages, spleen and dendritic cells, bovine chondrocytes and disease-state biospecimen.
